'This seminar will focus on developing a 'state of play' in practice. Using games and drills the aim is to develop soft skills, intuitive body movement and a creative approach to problem solving. This is an underdeveloped area of aikido training and can have a dramatic affect on students ability to  make new distinctions and connections within the system, and serve as an acid test for students technical skill level. Whilst remaining within the martial domain the games and drills are to be 'played' in a curious manner, and will explore the core principles of blending, receiving and neutralising. The initial focus will be on working one-on-one, moving from simple to complex games. We will then begin working with multiple partners and ultimately, towards a game in which the whole group plays as one.

We will play within all levels of the system, exploring both bukiwaza and taijutsu.'
